The recording of radio and TV programmes for purposes other than private use, requires the consent of the broadcaster and the rightholders to the contents of the programmes.
Recording for use in education is an area where consent is mandatory (also for access to use private recordings of radio and TV programmes in education).
In cooperation with NRK and TV2, Norwaco currently offers agreements that grant permission to record programmes from NRK’s and TV2’s television and radio channels for instructional use in primary schools, secondary schools, folk high schools, colleges and universities.
NRK Television channels:
NRK1
NRK2
NRK Radio channels:
NRK P1
NRK P2
NRK P3
TV 2 channels:
TV 2 (main channel)
Making recordings from NRK’s and TV2’s other channels is not allowed. The reason for this is that the above channels were the only ones that existed when the agreement was made. The agreement does not cover channels that subsequently came into existence.
If desirable, the agreements can be extended to include other broadcasters (including foreign ones), if the broadcaster in question gives its approval.
For public primary and secondary schools, an agreement is made with the given municipality or county, and the agreement covers every school in that municipality or county.
For private primary and secondary schools, an agreement is made with the individual school. The same applies to folk high schools and to colleges and universities.
Agreements can also be made for other types of education, e.g. in firms, on the condition that it pertains to systematic educational activity.
