Copyright ensures that those who have contributed to a given work have the exclusive rights of the disposal of it. Others who wish to use their work must first obtain the rightholders’ consent. Because of the many rights that must be cleared when using audiovisual works, a practical solution has been found entailing that both the consent and remuneration for this use takes place through Norwaco. Norwaco is authorized by its 34 member organisations to give such consent. These 34 member organisations represent more than 37,000 individual rightholders – consisting of creators, performing artists, cinematographers, and producers.
